Data keeps growing, but most of it isn’t used every day. Documents, project files, media and records pile up on expensive primary storage, get backed up every night and stay there long after anyone needs them. Without a plan for where data should live at each stage of its life, storage costs rise, backups take longer and sensitive information is harder to control. StorTech Solutions, a UAE-based provider serving clients in Dubai and across the UAE, KSA, Oman, the wider GCC and Africa since 2004, delivers data management, data lifecycle management and archiving solutions that put the right data on the right storage at the right cost. StorTech is the authorised UAE reseller of ArchiverFS, appointed by MLtek Limited (UK), and we combine it with Tiger Bridge and Wasabi cloud tiering to build an efficient, cost-optimised data lifecycle.
Data lifecycle management: the right data on the right storage
Data lifecycle management means handling information according to its value and how often it is used, from creation and active use to long-term retention and the eventual retirement of the hardware it sits on. We help you understand your data, define policies that match your business and compliance needs, and automate how data moves between storage tiers.
- Data assessment: how much you hold, how old it is and how often it’s accessed
- Policies based on age, last access, file type or location
- Automated movement of inactive data to lower-cost storage
- Retention planning aligned with your internal and regulatory requirements
ArchiverFS: automated, policy-based archiving
ArchiverFS automatically moves older, inactive files from your primary file servers to secondary storage based on rules you define, such as last accessed or last modified date. Users can still reach archived data from their usual locations, so day-to-day work carries on as normal while your primary storage footprint shrinks.
- Rule-based archiving of inactive data
- Transparent access for users after archiving
- Works with Windows file servers and standard storage
- Smaller primary storage footprint and shorter backup windows
Tiger Bridge and Wasabi: hybrid cloud tiering
Tiger Bridge extends Windows file servers to cloud and lower-cost storage tiers, moving data according to policy while keeping it visible in the file system. Paired with Wasabi cloud object storage, it gives you scalable, cost-effective capacity for data you rarely touch, without changing how users work and without endlessly expanding on-premises storage.
- Policy-based tiering from primary storage to Wasabi or other secondary tiers
- Data stays visible in its familiar locations
- Scalable cloud capacity for growing data sets
- Supports hybrid on-premises and cloud strategies
Protect every stage with Cyber Resilience and IT Asset Disposal
A data lifecycle strategy has to protect data as well as move it. Our Cyber Resilience service uses Veeam backup and immutable offsite copies on Wasabi, so active and archived data can be recovered after ransomware, failure or human error. Because less active data means smaller, faster backups, archiving and backup work well together. When storage hardware reaches the end of its life, our IT Asset Disposal service completes the lifecycle with data erasure following NIST SP 800-88 guidelines and a StorTech-issued erasure certificate for each asset.
Why choose StorTech for data management and archiving
- Authorised UAE reseller of ArchiverFS: appointed by MLtek Limited, UK
- Optimised costs: less spending on primary storage and backup capacity, and fewer or delayed server and storage purchases
- High efficiency: automated policies that run in the background
- Immediate fulfilment: StorTech holds large local stock, so licences and any secondary storage hardware can be delivered fast
- UAE-based since 2004: serving clients across the UAE, KSA, Oman, the wider GCC and Africa
Frequently asked questions
What is data lifecycle management?
Data lifecycle management is the practice of managing data according to its value and usage over time: keeping active data on fast storage, moving inactive data to lower-cost tiers or archives, protecting it throughout and retiring the hardware it sits on securely. It helps control costs, simplify backups and improve governance.
Will users notice when data is archived or tiered?
In most cases they won’t. ArchiverFS and Tiger Bridge are designed so that archived or tiered data remains accessible from its familiar locations.
What is the difference between ArchiverFS and Tiger Bridge?
ArchiverFS focuses on automated, rule-based archiving of inactive data from file servers to secondary storage. Tiger Bridge focuses on policy-based tiering and hybrid cloud data management, including tiering to Wasabi cloud object storage. We’ll recommend one or both, depending on your goals.
